It All Started with Listening

We started to notice that Community Living Australia was hard for some people to say and remember, especially our clients.

So, we asked more questions, listened carefully, and decided to dig a little deeper. We reached out to more clients, families, and teams. Over 200 people joined surveys, focus groups, and creative sessions.

Their honest feedback didn’t just guide us; it helped us see that it was time to be brave and explore a full rebrand.

The Client Advisory Board played a particularly important role, helping us with honest feedback at each step.

What we heard

  • Our name was long and tricky for many people to say, and hard to remember.
  • All sorts of different names were being used to describe us, like CLA, CLAUST, Community Living, or even the names of other organisations!
  • Our colours and visuals felt very serious, overstimulating, and weren’t always easy for everyone to see and read.
  • Our logo and name didn’t explain what we do, and to some people seemed more like a construction company or bank with our straight lines and visual ‘blocks’
  • People said they wanted something simpler, friendly, and a bit fun, just like the energy our teams and clients bring every day.

A Brand That Feels Like Us!

This was never just about a name. It’s about making something everyone can connect with and see themselves in.

We tested ideas with clients, advisory boards, and our teams, with every choice coming straight from their feedback. We knew we needed a name that was simple, friendly, and full of energy. 

And that’s how Livit Disability Support was born! Pulled directly from Community Living Australia, it honours our history while celebrating our commitment to help people livit their way.

Our Colours & Design

Livit Disability Support is more than a name or a colour palette. Every part of our brand reflects our values, our energy, and the people we support. We made it simpler, more energetic, and easier for everyone to read and enjoy.

We heard that our colours were hard for some people to see and read, and didn’t stand out enough. Now we’ve simplified it down to three bright, friendly, and accessible shades: yellow, lilac, and watermelon.

The ‘Livit line’ in our logo and designs celebrates the twisty, unique journeys we all take, especially for people living with disability. Life is never a straight line, and every path is different. It shows how we move with you, wherever the journey may go.

Here are some of the questions we’ve been hearing about our new brand. If you’re not seeing what you need, please get in touch.

This wasn’t a decision we took lightly. When our people tell us something isn’t working for them, we listen! Not only were we told that our name was hard to say and remember, but we also noticed that many people used different names to describe us like CLA, CLAUST, and even names of other organisations!

We also know the disability support sector is more competitive than ever. If our clients were having trouble with our name, others would be too. We needed something that stands out, is easy for everyone to connect with, and reflects who we really are. Making our name accessible to everyone was really important to us, and this change helps us do that.

We’re proud that a lot of people were able to have a say in this rebrand. We made sure to hear from a mix of ages, regions, and services. This helped us get a real picture of what people needed and wanted through surveys, focus groups, and creative sessions. Our Client Advisory Board also gave feedback at each step. Every decision we made was based on the feedback we heard.

Ultimately, the final decisions were approved by our senior leadership team and Board of Directors. They looked at the recommendations, feedback, and all the testing to make sure the new name and look were right for us.

We needed a name that was simple, friendly, energetic, and easy to say and remember. Livit comes straight from Community Living Australia. It’s a little nod to our past while stepping confidently into the future.

We didn’t just pull it out of a hat. We bounced ideas around with clients, families, and our teams, tried different options, and made sure it felt right for everyone. The name Livit Disability Support also shows how we work together and support people to live life their way.

That’s ok. We know not everyone will love it straight away. Some people might need a little time to get used to it, and some might not like it at all. Change can be hard, and that’s totally normal. Even if it’s not your favourite, we hope you can see why it was important for us to make our name simple, friendly, and easy for everyone to say and remember.

We invested approximately $40,000 over two years to consult with our people and develop the new brand. There are additional costs ongoing to rollout the brand across our materials as part of our annual advertising budgets. This is an investment in our future, our clients, and our teams. None of this takes away from the services or support our clients already receive.

The new brand helps us stand out in a competitive sector and grow thoughtfully. Every decision was shaped by feedback from our teams, clients, and families. It reflects the trust we’ve built and sets the stage for the next chapter of Livit Disability Support.

Updating our brand hasn’t replaced the investments we continue to make in training, programs, or any other part of the organisation.

This change is about improving experiences in a different way by making sure we’re more accessible, recognisable, and easier for everyone to connect with.  A clearer, stronger brand helps people understand what we do, attracts great staff who share our values, and connects us with more people.

This is an investment in our future, so we can keep doing what we do best for years to come.

Our new values are inspired by our old ones (Integrity, Agility, Working Together, Passion, and Wellbeing), but made simpler so everyone can connect with them.

Your services will stay just as they are. The teams you know and trust will also stay the same. Any changes or improvements to your services will always be made with you.

Everything you’ve already signed with Community Living Australia stays the same with Livit Disability Support. You won’t need to sign anything just because of the name change. The only time you’ll sign something is if new paperwork comes through, like an updated service agreement.
