I’m a Support Worker, since starting my position I have had the opportunity to work at two SIL sites

Working at SIL sites I assist clients with personal care, showering, medication, and daily living skills while supporting them with their independence. I enjoy cooking making meals with clients while helping them with cleaning, personal appointments, helping them achieve their goals.

I have so many memories working on a SIL site. Last year I was asked to assist a SIL client to Adelaide for a specialist appointment at Royal Adelaide. It was such an amazing experience for me and the client. We made the most of out of an anxious trip, it was there first time in Adeliade without being in hospital. We did pancake house, people watching, shopping for sensory toys. To this day it puts a smile on my face.

Working at SIL sites, you have the privilege of being more than a support worker for your clients; you become a part of their life/routine. No day is the same, and I love the challenges that it brings and the foundations you make with clients. “

Working with clients, SIL sites having a can-do attitude, and working within a team environment is essential, 24/7 care means communication is key. Efficiency and eye for detail with clients likes, dislikes and respecting client’s personal space and belongings.

I assist clients with their personal goals and independence by providing support, encouragement and being a part of it with them! I’m not someone who sits back, I love baking with my clients teaching them together. Motivation and acknowledgement having fun dancing, singing bad karaoke on my behalf, being open minded to new ideas, experience’s and stepping out of not just my, by client comfort zones.

Being a part of a SIL site is not just a job, it’s so much more rewarding! You want the best for the clients you work with.
