Myranth house caters for all people with all disabilities, you name it, we’ve had all types of people through. They’re our guests, they’re not just clients.
My favourite part about working at Myranth would be the diversity. We see so many different guests come through, and we see so many people with varying personalities and getting to know those people… that’s probably my favourite part, it’s never boring.
I think when a lot of people are looking to book Short Term Respite (STR), a lot of people are worried that it’s going to be clinical, and that’s not the case here.
“This is a very homely place and we’re quite relaxed. We want you to feel like you’re at home here in Myranth.”

My role here at Myranth is a Support Worker, and I’ve been here for 12 years, so we’ve seen a few changes, but some things don’t change either. As far as my role here, that would also involve building those skills to a degree, depending on the client. We might work with them in the kitchen, just general housework, but then we try to make it fun as well, it’s not all work. And then there are other people who need more specialised care, and so we will provide care tailored to that particular guest.
We are very client-focused. We will go to local cafes, pubs, right through to we’ve got Monarto Zoo very close by, and we’ll do trips down to Adelaide too. There are special events that we can attend, or even in the local area.
My favourite part of this role would actually be seeing people move into their own living situation. I like to see that people have their own worth and living to their best always makes me feel that we’ve achieved something, and to be able to see them living in their own home and own situation, living their best life and living the way they want to live – that’s rewarding. To be able to have a part in that skill-building is very rewarding.
